“Though Carroll and several other people on campus were trying to find the man a place to stay, they had not been successful. Carroll told WDAF that leaving the student sleeping outside was something he could not do, and he was out of options:
“I had a tough choice to make. He can’t stay on campus. I can’t put him in my car. I can’t take him to my house.”
“I just didn’t want to take the chance. We had ice and snow.”
In the end, Carroll decided to let the man sleep in the school’s library. That night, the temperature hit four degrees below zero. On Monday, Carroll was fired.
The school’s management team learned about their overnight guest through surveillance footage taken by cameras in the library. Though the student did not damage school property, Carroll was fired for putting school assets at risk.”
