Net neutrality a reality: Doctors Competing with Gamers & Movies

Net neutrality a reality: FCC votes to bring Internet under utility-style rules – CNET.

Now Doctor assisting a surgery in a remote location using the latest Virtual Reality surgery application will compete for bandwidth with thousands of kids playing games and parents watching Netfix. Great job FCC! What else did they mess up? Take a number, it’s going to be a long line.

“The new rules prohibit broadband providers from blocking or slowing down traffic on wired and wireless networks. They also ban Internet service providers from offering paid priority services that could allow them to charge content companies, such as Netflix, fees to access Internet “fast lanes” to reach customers more quickly when networks are congested.”
